MATERIAL BUYING GUIDE
Choosing gravel, sand, sub-base or garden soil
Compare our gravel, sand, ballast, limestone, topsoil and mulch catalogue. Find grades, bag sizes and prices for your building or garden project.
Choose the material before calculating the order
Tell us what you are doing and the grade your installer has specified. Products with similar names can have different grading, composition and uses. The catalogue below links to the options we offer; the project specification determines suitability.
Decorative gravel and stone
Compare 10mm gravel and 20mm pea gravel with flint, granite, slate and cobbles. Check the current colour, stone size and intended use before ordering. Our website pictures are illustrative; natural materials vary, particularly when wet or dry.
Sand and concrete materials
Sharp sand, building sand and ballast are separate products. Choose the material and grade called for by your paving, mortar, screed or concrete specification. Check with your installer before substituting another sand or a recycled option.
Limestone and sub-base
Our range includes MOT Type 1, down limestone, clean limestone and recycled 6F5. These are separate grades and materials. Confirm the required specification, layer depth and compaction allowance for your job.
Topsoil, compost and mulch
Compare topsoil, blended topsoil, compost, bark and wood chippings. Tell us whether you are preparing a lawn, filling beds, improving existing soil or adding a surface mulch so we can confirm the available product and its suitability.
